Who and where

LOOKING FORWARD has been founded by curator Carolina Lio in partnership with ACAVA, that provides the main facilities for the basic running of the organisation, including an exhibition space in West London.

ACAVA (Association for Cultural Advancement through Visual Art), is an educational arts charity that has evolved over four decades from a pioneering artist-led initiative in the early 1970s. Today, ACAVA manages 20 buildings, providing studios for over 500 artists in London, Essex and Stoke-on-Trent.

For decades, ACAVA has championed artists working collaboratively with diverse communities; exploring approaches to co-creation and shaping participatory art practices. This work remains a core part of ACAVA’s programmes which are delivered at different sites across the portfolio.

In delivering its programmes and studios, ACAVA continues to engage with an array of local, national and international collaborators, including artists; curators; cultural organisations; regeneration agencies; local authorities; community groups; schools; trusts and foundations; and statutory funders such as Arts Council England.

LOOKING FORWARD and ACAVA work together to develop a programme across London and beyond, starting from Central Space as headquarters.
