Art Tour With Sonia E. Barrett

Thanks to artist Sonia E. Barrett for having us and show our director around her most recent works presented by Zelda and Arcade.

Sonia's sculptures re-interpret maps and furniture in the colonial style, unpacking the objectification and commodification normalised by multi-generational European wealth in the framework of the Slave Trade.

In this post, also images from Dreading the Map (2021) a commission at Royal Geographical Society made with surplus maps from areas of triangular trade by a map-lective of women using Black hair techniques.
