We Are Hiring: General Assistant
Looking Forward is a forward-thinking curatorial office headquartered in Canary Wharf, London. We work with a network of international partners (institutions, independent organisations and curators) to develop new models of ethical curating and shared resources in the global context.
We are currently seeking to hire a London-based general assistant to assist with the delivery of our upcoming programme in London, Luxembourg and Italy, and support the expansion of our international network.
Person specifications
Essential:
Strong interest in visual arts and social causes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent project support and strong organisational skills
Experience with social media (Instagram, Facebook)
Good IT skills (Google Suite, Office Suite, Canva)
Flexibility and initiative
Desirable:
Photo and video editing skills
Working knowledge of at least one more language besides English
Fundraising experience in the not-for-profit sector
Experience in arts programming
The ideal candidate has a background as a curator, producer or artist and a keen interest in socially engaged art practices. This is a freelance position of 1-2 days per week, depending on the volume of work on any specific week. Therefore, the role would suit someone engaged in their own research or practice and wanting to expand their experience and network in a dynamic and exciting environment.
Responsibilities include:
Dealing with correspondence and phone calls
Managing and coordinating diaries and organising meetings and appointments
Managing databases and filing systems
Updating website and social media
Liaising with artists, partners and contractors
Miscellaneous tasks related to daily activities
Location: Looking Forward, Canary Wharf office and hybrid working
Hours: circa 10 - 15 hours per week
Type of Contract: Freelance
Fee: To be negotiated depending on experience
