Looking Forward offers a three-part consultancy programme to support artists and curators in navigating their next steps, whether you’re seeking funding, refining your portfolio or CV, exploring new opportunities, or simply figuring out how to move forward with a project or your practice.

Led by Carolina Lio, curator and director of Looking Forward, the programme offers tailored, practical advice grounded in real-world experience across the UK and international cultural sectors. All sessions are available to book online, with the option to meet in person if you are based in London.

Part 1: Introductory Call (15 minutes)

A short, friendly conversation with a member of our team to get a sense of who you are, your practice, and what you’re looking for. This helps us tailor the following sessions to your specific needs, whether you’re looking for guidance on funding, visibility, career development, or building a sustainable practice.

Part 2: Strategic Session (60 minutes)

A one-hour Zoom session with Carolina to dive deeper into your work, goals, and challenges. This could include:

  • Mapping out next steps for a specific project.

  • Identifying relevant opportunities (funding, residencies, exhibitions).

  • Advice on structuring your portfolio, website, or CV.

  • Clarifying your curatorial or artistic direction.

  • General “surgery” on how to move forward professionally.

Part 3: Feedback & Development (60 minutes)

A follow-up session to reflect on actions taken since the first meeting. This is a space to review materials (like a draft proposal, CV, or artist statement), test ideas, or go further into strategic planning. You’ll receive detailed feedback and suggestions tailored to your practice.

Written Summaries Included

After Sessions 2 and 3, you’ll receive a written summary with the key points and practical recommendations discussed so you can move forward with clarity and structure.

Optional Ongoing Support

In some cases, we offer free continued support and informal mentorship for projects or practices that align with Looking Forward’s curatorial interests and values. These relationships may lead to deeper collaborations or inclusion in future programming.

Sessions are available to book online. To begin, schedule your 15-minute Introductory Call (Part 1), and we’ll arrange the rest with you.

F.A.Q.

What's the cost?

The total cost for the two sessions is £80. This is a subsidised rate, as Looking Forward operates as a non-profit. If the cost is still prohibitive for you, you’re welcome to email us at hello@lookingforward.online with a short explanation. We are committed to accessibility and happy to discuss alternative arrangements where needed.

Can I do the sessions in person instead of on Zoom?

Yes, in-person sessions may be possible, depending on availability. Please let us know that this is your preference during the first introductory call.

Can I share a session with a collaborator or team member?

Yes, if you’re working collaboratively on a project, your collaborator is welcome to join the session(s).

What types of projects are eligible for this kind of support?

The sessions are most useful for projects in the visual arts, socially engaged practices, and curatorial initiatives. However, if you’re unsure whether your project fits, feel free to email us with a brief outline before booking.

Is there any opportunity for ongoing support or mentorship?

In a limited number of cases, we are able to offer continued follow-up support and informal mentorship beyond the two sessions. This is typically extended to projects that align closely with Looking Forward’s curatorial interests and values, and may lead to a more sustained partnership. These opportunities are limited and offered at our discretion, based on the potential for long-term collaboration. If you feel your project might be a good fit, we’re happy to discuss this further during your sessions.
